It’s that time of year again when we should all be taking on the ‘mile’ and joining together with fellow students to take part in Sport Relief 2012.
Sport Relief is an amazing sporting occasion which will take place on Sunday 25 March. It is a great opportunity for all students to get into shape whist raising money for those who are less fortunate than ourselves. All money raised will be donated to help those people living incredibly tough lives in the UK and across some of the world’s poorest countries. There are literally hundreds of Sport Relief Mile events taking place all over the UK.
If you have not yet registered then you still have time. The nearest event for students of Leeds is taking place in Millennium Square. You can opt to run 1, 3 or if you can manage it, 6 miles. The route will take you through the heart of Leeds shopping district. To register just follow the link Leeds Mile
A number of Leeds Met students have already organised their own Spin-A-Thon for Sport Relief which took place 8 March 2012. The event saw students take part in a four hour spin class at the Fitness Centre at City Campus Gym, raising over £50 with entry fees and much more from sponsorship.
And our own Associate President of Development for Leeds Met, Jonathan Clough, will be taking part in the Leeds Mile with The Athletics Union Sports Team. Jonathan won’t be walking or running the mile he has decided to take the challenge of completing the mile on his space hopper.
So, come and join us for Sport Relief on 25 March. Have fun, get fit, and make a difference to your day and the lives of those in need.
