In a recent parody of Man Vs Food a Leeds University student has taken it upon himself to consume gargantuan amounts of alcohol in a matter of seconds. In such a challenge the misguided youth consumed a pint of vodka in six seconds a mammoth 22.4 units of alcohol and in another entitled playfully ‘Rainbow Wine’ he drank three bottles of wine or 43.5 units in 69 seconds. The balaclava and vest clad Art Student also seems to be very fond of rhyming, with such gems as
I’ll pop the cork so you can’t give any talk
Ok it’s not Red Bull it’s Source, diet of course
In the show he parody’s ‘Man Vs Food’, the actor Adam Richman consumes again a large amount of Food. Differing from his anglo drink companion however he abstains from eating the day before and undertakes an extensive gym session the day after. An acceptable alternative to this for ‘Man Vs Booze’ would for him to to be sick after the running of the show. He doesn’t do this however saying simply ‘i’m not sick’. This allows the drink to do untold damage to his body
It seems the public glorify this behavior as youtube stars endeavor to push boundaries and create something ever more extreme. This kind of culture is not acceptable and is eventually going to lead to death. Whilst we cannot stop this kind of behavior we can publicly vilify the drinking culture that exist’s in most universities. Drinking is acceptable in moderation but certainly what Man Vs Booze is attempting is not moderation.
Absinthe became famous for it’s hallucinogenic properties and it’s effect of influencing the Romantic Poets in the 19th century. Absinthe is usually between 50 and 80 percentage. It is usually served as a shot and due to the high concentration of herbs it is not drunk in a higher amount than that. Man Vs Booze was recently taken to hospital after attempting to drink two pint’s of Absinthe and inflicted himself with ‘acute alcohol poisoning’. Thankfully he looks to make a full recovery and is currently undertaking treatment in hospital. Lets hope this ordeal has lead him to make a decision to stop what he is doing.
