Each week around Leeds venues such as Brudenell Social Club, Nation of Shopkeepers, Oporto and many others are spreading the love by putting on free live music, for you to enjoy. !FREE SHOWS THIS WEEK! aims to showcase the best picks and keep you informed, so that you never have to miss out…

With deadlines and exams looming, taking a little break to give your brain a rest is super important, and what better way to do this, than to check out some of the free shows in Leeds this week!

Again this week, it is Oporto and Nation of Shopkeepers who are bringing music into our lives, for the thrifty little price of nothing. My first pick would be the launch of Shark Teeth EP ‘Wanna Get Drunk and Fool Around?’ at Oporto on Tuesday… who could refuse an offer like that?! Formally known as Blood Oranges (not alternative country band Blood Oranges, or electro soul Blood Orange… name change definitely for the best!), Shark Teeth have supported the likes of Surfer Blood, The Vaccines and Two Door Cinema Club, so fans of these guys who are looking for something new and exciting, definitely give Shark Teeth a go!  Check out the video for debut single, ‘The French Word For Love’…

Shark Teeth will be supported by The ABC Club, featured on last week’s !FREE SHOWS THIS WEEK!, so if you found them a treat, don’t miss your chance to catch them again. Support also from Runaround Kids and Heart & Souls.

My second pick would be the Vice Issue Launch on Wednesday, presenting performances from Big Deal, Holy Esque and Best Friends, with sets from Karma and No Bones DJs. Check out the video for Big Deal’s Homework…

It might also be worth mentioning that American Apparel will be there, to hand out some free swag, to the first 100 people to grace the entrance of Nation of Shopkeepers… so if you like free clothes (you are students) and free music (you are students) then don’t give this one a miss!!
