With that week of super hot weather, fresh in our minds, having given us a taste of what is to come in the summer months… what to wear, what to wear??!! will soon become an issue! It’s hot, you can’t cope in jeans or tights however the oh so popular hotpant craze, taking over the highstreet may be too daring for some, especially when you are in uni all day… walking up stairs and sticking to chairs, the ritual grooming routine which begins to take over your life, in these moments I have a strong suspicion that not everyone loves short shorts.
So, for all you fashion conscious fashionistas, who still want to be stylish in the heat, without bearing all and giving your 50 year old lecturers a heart attack… let me introduce you to the midi skirt! Some of you may already be acquainted I am sure. The midi skirt is the answer to all your problems, light and breezy in the summer heat, cut below the knees there is no need to constantly be checking you have not exposed yourself in one of these little numbers.
Those of you still unsure check out this photoshoot for some lovely ensembles… even better, all of these skirts were thrifted from charity shops in Headingley, all very reasonable costing £2-5. There is an abundance of similar items on offer, so save some pennies and bag one for yourself. (Worn with tights, they would be perfect for colder weather too; cost-per-wear midi skirts are an investment in your wardrobe!)
